Why It Matters
Philippe Starck-designed interior in a repurposed industrial building, with a full sports club that has a members-only waiting list open to locals. The mix of hotel, destination restaurant, pastry shop, wellness club, and rooftop kitchen garden under one roof is genuinely unusual for Paris.
Brach Paris is Philippe Starck's 2018 transformation of a 1970s postal sorting facility into a 7,000 sqm five-star hotel in the 16th arrondissement. The result is somewhere between a design museum and a neighborhood sports club — all rosewood paneling, leather, raw concrete, and African art objects, with a 22-meter pool and Clarins spa in the basement and a rooftop kitchen garden feeding the Mediterranean restaurant above. It feels more like a local institution than a hotel. The 16th is quiet and residential, which will either feel like a relief or a downside depending on who you are.
