Four historically listed buildings converted into one deeply atmospheric boutique hotel, each room uniquely shaped by its medieval bones. The in-house KARRisma restaurant earned its first Michelin star in 2024 — a milestone for Lindau Island, which hadn't seen one in 30 years.
Hotel Adara is a 16-room boutique property spread across four listed medieval buildings right in Lindau's old town island. Original 13th-century timber ceilings, exposed stone walls, and ancient hoist mechanisms sit alongside sharp contemporary design, Bose stereo systems, and box-spring beds. And then there's the ground-floor restaurant KARRisma — the first Lindau Island establishment to earn a Michelin star in three decades.

Double Room (N°4, N°8, N°15, N°16)
Four distinct double rooms spread across floors 1–4, each shaped by the medieval building's character. Room N°4 (2nd floor, 25 m²) has an original 13th-century Lindau ceiling — low but cosy. Room N°8 (3rd floor, 23.5 m²) shows old stonework and has a slightly lower ceiling too. Room N°15 (4th floor, 25 m²) features an original 17th-century hoist mechanism and high ceilings, with cleverly placed prisms bringing daylight into the bathroom. Room N°16 (1st floor, 24 m²) faces the quiet rear courtyard with exposed beams and box-spring beds. All have walk-in showers. Best suited as singles or cosy doubles — beds are 160cm wide.

Double Room Comfort (N°2, N°3, N°6, N°7, N°10, N°11, N°13)
Seven rooms across floors 1–4, ranging 28–30 m², each with a sitting area carved out of the extra space. All have the Adara medieval character — old wooden ceilings, stone elements — plus a proper 200×210cm double bed. Rooms N°11 (3rd floor, 30 m², view of 'In der Grub' alley) and N°13 (4th floor, 28 m², view of Alter Schulplatz) stand out with freestanding bathtubs instead of showers. Note: Room N°13 is on the 4th floor and not reachable by lift.

Junior Suite (N°1, N°5, N°9)
Three suites on floors 1–3, around 30–33 m², with visually separated living and sleeping zones. Suite N°1 (1st floor, ~30 m²) looks out over Alter Schulplatz. Suite N°5 (2nd floor, 32 m²) also faces the square and has a spacious daylight bathroom. Suite N°9 (3rd floor) offers rooftop views over the square with plenty of room to spread out. All have walk-in showers, Bose systems, and 200×210cm beds.

A three-storey suite on the 3rd floor spanning 40 m². The show-stopper is the private balcony with an outdoor whirlpool, perfect for watching the sun drop over Lindau's rooftops with a glass of Adara wine. Inside: open-plan bathroom with a freestanding bathtub, a separate sleeping area, sitting corner with desk, kitchenette with Nespresso machine, minibar, Bose system. The most romantic room in the hotel.
Double 200/210 · 40 sqmTop Suite N°14
A maisonette on the 4th floor — two levels, about 40 m², with a private balcony and outdoor whirlpool. The walk-in daylight shower bathroom is excellent, and the living area sofa pulls out into a third sleeping spot. Nespresso machine in the kitchenette. Popular as a honeymoon suite but also works for a small group of three. Stairs only to this floor — no lift.

The hotel's own Adara Wine label — produced with Niel Bester at Palmiet Valley, South Africa — is available to taste and purchase on-site. The Shiraz 2021 has received particularly strong reviews.
Annual summer opera festival in Bregenz, Austria, held on a floating stage on Lake Constance. Just a short boat ride from Lindau. The hotel offers a dedicated package including tickets, boat transfer, and dinner.
Boat services from Lindau Harbour connect to Austria, Switzerland, and other German lakeside towns. The hotel's Bregenzer Festspiele package includes a boat transfer to the festival stage across the lake.
The hotel's central location means Lindau's harbour, lighthouse, Bavarian Lion statue, Peterskirche, and the town's medieval streets are all within a few minutes on foot.
