Bodysgallen Hall
Grand country house — formal, historic, very British. Think Miss Marple, not boutique hotel. Dress smart for dinner.
Book direct — breakfast and spa access are both included, which third-party sites won't always tell you.
Why It Matters
One of only three National Trust Historic House Hotels in England and Wales. The only hotel in Llandudno with a 2 AA Rosette restaurant. The 17th-century parterre garden of box hedges filled with sweet-scented herbs is a rare surviving example of its kind.
A Grade I listed 17th-century manor owned by the National Trust, sitting in over 200 acres of wooded parkland two miles south of Llandudno. The views alone justify the drive — Snowdonia on one side, Conwy Castle on the other. Inside: oak panelling, ancestral portraits, Persian carpets, crackling fireplaces, and a 19th-century bookcase in the drawing room. This is formal, old-money Welsh hospitality, the kind where a bucket of umbrellas stands ready at the door and sherry is the default aperitif.

How you'll actually spend your days.
A croquet lawn is available within the hotel grounds — quintessentially British and thoroughly appropriate for the setting.
Over 200 acres of gardens and parkland to explore freely. Highlights include a rare 17th-century parterre of box hedges filled with sweet-scented herbs, a walled rose garden, a lily pond, a rockery with cascade, and several follies scattered across the grounds. The kitchen garden supplies produce to the restaurant.
A well-equipped air-conditioned gymnasium overlooking the pool. Cardio machines including treadmills, cross trainers, exercise bikes, a Smyth Machine, stair climber, and rowing machine, plus free weights and a Power Plate. A qualified Personal Trainer is available to tailor a fitness programme.
Several golf courses in the vicinity of the hotel along the North Wales coastline. The hotel can provide information and recommendations.
A large 50-foot indoor swimming pool with spa bath (whirlpool), edged with comfortable reclining chairs. Complimentary for direct-booking hotel guests. Children aged 8-16 may use the pool 10am-11am and 4pm-5pm daily.
The hotel's 'Escape to the Country' break includes free entry to local National Trust and CADW heritage sites, including Conwy Castle — which you can see from the hotel's Snowdonia View rooms. Conwy Town Walls are also nearby.
A labyrinth of footpaths through wooded parkland. Walk up to the obelisk for panoramic views across the Conwy Valley to the Great and Little Orme. Dog-friendly. Just 2 miles from sandy beaches and the Welsh Coastal Path.
