Request a sea-facing room in Casa Azul for maximum Atlantic light — it's the sunniest building

Why It Matters

The original Algarve hotel (opened 1934, mansion built 1918), a Relais & Châteaux member, and home to Chef João Oliveira's 1 Michelin star Vista Restaurant — awarded every year since 2017. Recognized by CNN as one of 20 of Europe's Most Beautiful Hotels. The building famously served as a spy meeting point during WWII and its guestbook includes multiple European royals and heads of state.

A 1918 clifftop mansion turned 5-star boutique hotel perched above Praia da Rocha — the first hotel ever to open in the Algarve. Three buildings (the historic Palacete, the sea-facing Casa Azul, and the garden-oriented Casa Jardim) hold 38 individually designed rooms. It's famous for its Michelin-starred Vista Restaurant and as a counter-point to the slab-resorts crowding the strip on either side.

Tradition – Palacete

One of the most intimate rooms in the original 1918 Palacete. Warm tones, painted ceilings, oil-painted details, and the authentic soul of the house. Portuguese heritage with oriental echoes — golden details, deep blues, nothing accidental. Because the original architecture is preserved, some Palacete rooms don't have a balcony.
