A 300-year-old building that somehow became one of Northumberland's most design-forward boutique hotels after its 2019 refurbishment. The Kitchen's commitment to Northumbrian produce — Craster kippers, fresh shellfish, heritage potatoes — is the real standout.
A Grade II listed, 18th-century stone inn in the coastal village of Beadnell, fully refurbished in 2019 with 22 individually designed rooms spread across the main building and a separate Coach House. The Beadnell Kitchen holds a Michelin Key (2025) and a Good Food Guide award, and the cooking — rooted in Northumbrian seafood and seasonal produce — is genuinely the reason many people come. Exposed stone walls, vaulted ceilings with wooden beams, and copper freestanding baths sit alongside patterned wallpapers and contemporary lighting: the building wears its history without being precious about it.

Three additional rooms in the Coach House, all on the ground floor and pet-friendly. Coach House 3 features a freestanding bathtub. Double + Bunk BedsCraa's Nest
Top-floor room named after the Northumbrian word for 'crow's nest' — and it earns the nautical metaphor. High vaulted ceilings with wooden beams, a stunning freestanding copper bath as the focal point, and sea views. A telescope is provided for scanning the horizon. Stone and dark-sand tones throughout. Dark cream wood-panelled ensuite with walk-in drench shower.
Super KingDucket
A well-appointed room noted by guests for its sea views. Clean, comfortable, and individually decorated in keeping with the hotel's coastal character. Ensuite bathroom included.
Muckle Hoose
The flagship room — and it earns that status. A backlit exposed-stone feature wall provides the backdrop for twin freestanding copper baths at the centre of the room. Beautiful oak floors, a bespoke glass chandelier, super king bed, double walk-in shower, and double sinks. The name means 'big house' in Northumbrian dialect. Dimmable lighting makes it as romantic as advertised.

Fourteen individually named rooms in the main building, each with its own personality, named in Northumbrian dialect. No two are the same in size or layout — a natural consequence of the Grade II listed building. All feature king-size or larger beds with Egyptian cotton sheets, feather duvets, Noble Isle toiletries, smart TVs and superfast Wi-Fi. Some have sofa beds or can interconnect for families. Lonnen is a twin/double. Some have private terraces.
Yarkin
Named after the Northumbrian word for 'large,' and there's no false advertising. A big bay window floods the room with natural light and the freestanding cast-iron bath sits front and centre. Super king bed with contemporary four-poster frame and driftwood-style lamps. Corner seating area. Ensuite shower room has a second bay window, creamy wood panelling and vintage-inspired glass lampshades over double sinks.
