Suite Okinawa - Kourijama
Relaxed all-suite resort with apartment-level practicality — full kitchen, washer/dryer, complimentary in-room drinks — wrapped in understated Japanese resort aesthetic. Less flashy than the big five-star properties on the main island. More intimate. The villa building takes it up a notch with private saunas and jacuzzis.
Upper floors (3rd and 4th) are adults-only and offer better bridge views — worth requesting at booking
Why It Matters
Japan's leading business hotel chain's first resort. Every room identical in size with a no-bad-rooms ocean view guarantee. The BATON Villa Suite is the real standout: separate building, in-room check-in, private sauna/jacuzzi, and the only rooms where dogs are welcome. Listed in both the Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels.
BATON SUITE opened on Kouri Island in March 2025 as the first resort property from Daiwa Roynet Hotels — a brand better known for business hotels across Japan. All 35 rooms are suites at a uniform 67.4 sqm, every one guaranteed an ocean view, private balcony, and a view bath angled toward Kouri Bridge and the East China Sea. The building replaced the former Hotel Avi Resort after a full gut renovation and rebrand. The pace is deliberately slow: daybed by floor-to-ceiling windows, stars from the balcony at night, charcoal-grilled Mediterranean food at the on-site restaurant OCTO. No beach directly at the door, but Kouri Beach is a 9-minute walk.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Complimentary electric cart shuttle service operating within Kouri Island. Covers nearby tourist spots and local restaurants. Helpful for guests without a car, though taxis off the island can be scarce — coordinate in advance if leaving by taxi.
On-site outdoor BBQ facility. Details on pricing and availability should be confirmed directly with the hotel.
Photo wedding service available at the property. Kouri Island's scenery provides the backdrop. Couples package — details and pricing available through the hotel.
Outdoor pool with views over Kouri Island's coastline and the sea. Open April to October, 8:00am–8:00pm. Lit up at night. Not large, but uncrowded according to guests. Overlooks the natural scenery rather than a beach.
Kouri Island's low light pollution makes the night sky exceptional. Fourth-floor balconies in particular draw guest praise for star visibility. Smartphone cameras reportedly capture stars without editing.
Amenities & Practical Info
The details that matter for planning.
Fully automatic washing and drying machine in every room. Noted by guests as a major practical advantage for multi-night stays — means packing light is viable.
All rooms include a kitchen with induction cooktop, microwave, double-door refrigerator, and tableware. Practical for self-catering, especially given limited island dining options.
In-room fridge stocked with complimentary drinks including beer, chu-hi (Japanese canned cocktails), and soft drinks. Light snacks also available near reception.
Premium Refa brand shower heads and hair dryers in all rooms. Hair straightener and curling iron also noted in guest reviews.
35 free parking spaces on site, one guaranteed per room. Spaces accommodate vehicles up to 5.1m long and 1.9m wide. No valet. Guests needing more than one space should contact the hotel in advance.
Entire building is non-smoking. One designated smoking area outside the building.
Small shop in the lobby area selling snacks, beer, and drinks. Useful given the absence of convenience stores on Kouri Island.
