Why It Matters
Ristorante Porcino earned a Michelin star within a few years of opening, making it one of the few hotels in the Dolomites where the restaurant is genuinely the star attraction. Owned and operated by a chef-sommelier couple with serious fine-dining backgrounds. The rooftop spa with heated infinity pool overlooking Sasso Santa Croce is one of the finest wellness setups in Alta Badia.
Badia Hill is a 'Food & Boutique Hotel' run by chef Marco Verginer and sommelier Michaela Mair, who opened it in 2022 after meeting in a two-Michelin-star restaurant. The concept is simple and committed: drink well, eat exceptionally well, sleep in a beautiful room with a Dolomites view. Thirty-three rooms across five categories, a Michelin-starred restaurant (Ristorante Porcino) that earned its star just a few years after opening, and a rooftop spa with a heated infinity pool that faces Sasso Santa Croce. The whole building is clad in Alpine wood on the outside but inside reads as warmly minimalist — natural materials, floor-to-ceiling windows, and nothing superfluous. Adults-only in spirit (minimum age 12), and proudly without half-board: you eat à la carte across three distinct spaces.
