Joshua Tree
Mid-century desert modern. Shiny Airstreams arranged in a large circular pattern like a contemporary Stonehenge. Local artist installations throughout, furniture by West Coast artisans, 1970s-inspired accents. The vibe is effortlessly cool rather than rustic.
Book a Premium Airstream Suite for the rear of the property — better views of the night sky, more distance from the Clubhouse noise, and same amenities as Classic
Why It Matters
AutoCamp essentially created the luxury Airstream glamping category in the US, and the Joshua Tree location leans fully into the high desert aesthetic with a specially designed Quonset Hut Clubhouse, local artist installations, and a solar-powered, dark-sky-compliant footprint. It's one of the most Instagrammed outdoor lodging concepts in California.
AutoCamp Joshua Tree is a high-design glamping resort sitting at 2,736 feet in the high desert, about 9 minutes from Joshua Tree National Park. The property packs 55 units — custom 31-foot Airstream trailers and tiny home-style cabins — into a striking desert layout anchored by an arched, Quonset Hut-inspired Clubhouse with a plunge pool, outdoor bar, and misting fans. It's camping without the suffering: Tempur-Pedic mattresses, walk-in rain showers stocked with Ursa Major products, and Bluetooth speakers inside each shiny aluminum shell.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Bikes are available for guests to ride around the property and surrounding area. Seasonal availability.
Outdoor lawn games and indoor board games available at the Clubhouse throughout the day.
A large plunge pool in the warmer months (heated to a comfortable temperature), which converts to a hot tub in winter. The pool deck features a colorful mural ('Mojave Stacks') by LA and Landers-based artist Jonny Alexander, depicting native desert flora and rock formations. Lounge chairs and desert mountain views are part of the package.
Every single unit at AutoCamp Joshua Tree has its own private outdoor fire pit with lounge seating and a grill. Firewood, fire starters, and charcoal can be purchased at the General Store. Staff will also help you start a fire if needed.
Clubhouse-based arts and crafts sessions designed for families with kids. Running daily per the current calendar. A good option when temperatures spike midday.
An ongoing scavenger hunt for young guests — search for a hidden Desert Tortoise stuffed animal somewhere in the Clubhouse. Low-key but a fun throughline for kids throughout a stay.
Weekly fireside live music sets with local musicians, running 6–8pm on select evenings (typically Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday). Guests gather by the communal fire pit for the performances.
Restorative yoga class taught by local partners, designed for all levels. Runs 8–9am on select days (typically Saturdays and Sundays based on the current schedule). Takes place on the property grounds in the open desert air.
AutoCamp coordinates off-site climbing and hiking excursions through local guide companies including Mojave Guides, Joshua Tree Guides, Cliffhanger Guides, and Summit Climbing Guides. Options range from beginner to advanced. Half-day adventure hikes and multi-pitch climbing available. Separate booking and fees required.
AutoCamp can connect guests with the nearby Integratron in Landers — a 1950s wooden dome built by aircraft engineer George Van Tassel, now famous for resonant sound baths. About a short drive from the property. Separate booking required.
The property uses dark-sky-compliant lighting, making the grounds a solid spot for casual stargazing. AutoCamp Joshua Tree has also run guided moonlight hikes in Joshua Tree National Park through local partners. Check the experience calendar for scheduled stargazing events.
