Book a room with a terrace for the best bay of Douarnenez views

Why It Matters

Two Michelin stars held by Chef Olivier Bellin, whose hyper-local Finistère cuisine highlights small-scale producers from the region individually named on the menu. Buckwheat — Brittany's staple grain — is treated like caviar here. One of the most serious gastronomic addresses in western France, housed in a building with genuine multi-generational family roots.

A three-generation family inn that began as a blacksmith's forge in 1870, then became a farmhouse restaurant under chef Olivier Bellin's grandmother. Bellin took over the kitchen in February 1998 and steadily built it into one of Brittany's most decorated gastronomic addresses, earning 2 Michelin stars. Eight individually designed rooms were added to let guests extend the experience, set between the Menez Hom mountain and the bay of Douarnenez with Atlantic views. The hotel side is intimate and calm; the restaurant is the main event.

Standard Room (Menez category)

Named after the local mountain Menez Hom, these rooms use granite, untreated wood and pebbles throughout. Natural tones — cream, chocolate or aniseed — with occasional pops from bright cushions. Details nod to the chef's grandfather: ironwork pieces, a pebble-framed mirror, woollen plaid rugs. Bay windows draw the eye toward the bay of Douarnenez. Some have a balcony, others a terrace.
