Insider Tip

Book the restaurant even if you're staying in-house — it fills up with locals, especially on weekends

Why It Matters

Holds One MICHELIN Key (awarded 2025), placing it alongside London's finest boutique properties. The entire Artist Residence group — all five UK hotels — earned a Key simultaneously. Part of what makes the London outpost work is its sheer restraint: only 10 rooms, no lift, no spa, no pool. What it lacks in facilities it makes up for in atmosphere and a restaurant that locals genuinely book out.

A 10-bedroom Georgian townhouse on a quiet Pimlico side street, run by artist-owners Justin and Charlotte Salisbury. Each room is a one-off — original art on every wall, bespoke furniture made from reclaimed materials, and a distinct personality that no interior designer could have planned. The ground floor Cambridge Street Kitchen doubles as the neighbourhood's favourite all-day café and cocktail bar, and the basement Clarendon Cocktail Cellar is a speak-easy den that locals actually use.

Club Suite

Art Deco in style with industrial touches. The handmade super king bed has a retro fan-shaped headboard, and there are leather and velvet sofas in the seating area. Can take up to two medium-sized dogs, and a sofa bed for a child (£40/night) or extra fold-up bed (£50/night) is available.

Grand Suite

The most generous room in the house, on the first floor. Open-plan bedroom and sitting room with parquet floors rescued from a school gym, emerald sofas, club chairs, and a very grand four-poster super king bed. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the quiet street. The freestanding cast-iron bath is big enough for two; there's also a double marble sink. Pop art on the walls, log-filled fireplace, and a well-stocked minibar tucked inside an ornate armoire. Can accommodate up to three small dogs, or two medium dogs. Extra fold-up beds for children available (£50/night).

Medium Room
Standard

Medium Room

Bigger than Small, and the sweet spot for most guests. Same artful style — reclaimed wooden floors, vintage statement pieces, limited-edition prints — but with room to breathe. These get the mini Smeg fridge, which is a nice upgrade. Can accommodate a cot and one dog.

Medium Twin Room

Same spec and character as the Medium Room but configured with twin beds. Good for friends travelling together who want the artsy boutique experience without sharing a king.

Small Room
Standard

Small Room

Compact crashpad-style rooms with all the character you'd expect — exposed brickwork, jewel-coloured furnishings, battered leather armchairs, and limited-edition art prints. The size is exactly what the name says. Best for solo travellers or those who don't plan on spending much time in the room. En suite with rain shower. Dogs welcome (one small dog).

The Loft

The Loft

The most talked-about room in the building. Sits in the eaves on the third floor with a window looking out over London rooftops. The king-size bed has a reclaimed field gate as a headboard — it sounds odd, it works completely. An antler chandelier hangs from the vaulted ceiling. The real showstopper is the 1930s French-style bath tub sitting in the wood-lined en suite alongside a powerful rain shower. It's a pocket-sized pied-à-terre, not sprawling, but extremely characterful.
