A contemporary ski-in/ski-out hotel opened in 2016, sitting at the foot of the Chalvet slopes in the Obélisque quarter of Montgenèvre — just 1.5km from the Italian border. Forty individually decorated rooms each tell their own story, from Marilyn Monroe pop-art to Rolling Stones rock-and-roll to alpine country, all painted by resident artist Philippe Boonen. The spa is small but complete, the restaurant leans into local Hautes-Alpes produce with a Piedmontese accent, and the ski shop is literally in the basement.
