Anne-Sophie
Warm, socially-conscious, character-driven. Not a flashy design hotel. Each room is different — the three buildings (Schlossplatz, Haus Komburg, Würzburger Bau) each have their own character, ranging from 3-star cosy to 4-star polished. The vibe is unpretentious but surprisingly refined, especially in the gourmet restaurant.
The gourmet restaurant runs a Thursday 'Schlemmertag' (indulgence day) with a surprise 3- or 4-course menu — a more affordable way to experience the kitchen at 65–80€ per person
Why It Matters
The integration concept — everyone from kitchen staff to front desk working together regardless of disability — is the defining story of this hotel. The gourmet restaurant ('handicap') has earned recognition from the VARTA Guide (2025 seal) and Gusto Guide (2024–2025 recommendation). It's also a certified GreenSign hotel. Nowhere else quite like it in the region.
A family-founded hotel spread across five historic buildings in the centre of Künzelsau, Hohenlohe, with a genuine integration concept at its heart: people with and without disabilities work side by side across every department. That's not marketing copy — it's been the core of the operation since it opened in 2003. The result is 54 individually decorated rooms, two restaurants (one of them gourmet-level), a wellness area, a wine bar, a patisserie, and a shop selling goods produced by disadvantaged communities worldwide.

The hotel sits directly on the Kocher-Jagst cycling path (Kocher-Jagst-Radweg). Bike rentals are available from the hotel, making this an easy day trip or multi-day ride through the Hohenlohe landscape.
The hotel regularly runs culinary themed weeks in the Gourmet-Restaurant handicap — for example, a 'Hellas Handicap' Greek week with 4–6 course menus from €100 per person. Check the events calendar for current offerings.
The Hohenlohe region offers castles, forest walking trails, and the broader Hohenloher Ebene landscape. The hotel provides local exploration tips under 'Hohenlohe entdecken' on their website.
The hotel recommends a morning jog along the Kocher riverbank — a scenic, flat route right from the hotel's doorstep.
Künzelsau has the only natural open-air river swimming pool in Baden-Württemberg, right in town. Also features a children's paddling pool, sandy beach, playground, and beach volleyball.
One of Germany's most significant private art museums, located about 10 minutes by car. Free admission. The Würth Group (based in Künzelsau) maintains an outstanding contemporary art collection.
