Annapurna
Warm, sporty, and family-run without being flashy. Think polished Alpine lodge rather than gilded palace. Loyal repeat guests, name recognition at check-in, and a vibe that's unpretentious for Courchevel 1850 — which is saying something.
The bar has live piano every evening — arrive early for a fireplace seat
Why It Matters
The highest hotel in Courchevel 1850, with the only outdoor heated pool in the resort and a Michelin-starred restaurant (Alpage, 1 star, 2024) on-site. Family-owned and operated by the Pinturaults since 1974.
Annapurna is a family-owned five-star hotel sitting at the very top of Courchevel 1850 — the highest hotel in the resort, full stop. Built by the Pinturault family in 1974 and overhauled gradually since, it wears its age well: south-facing architecture designed on the heliotropic principle floods every floor with natural light, and the materials — glass, stone, and natural wood — feel genuinely mountain rather than merely themed. The ski-in/ski-out location directly on the Pralong piste is as good as it gets in Courchevel, and the Michelin-starred restaurant Alpage gives it a food angle most slope-side hotels can only dream about.
