London Liverpool Street
Hip urban lifestyle hotel with East London artistic energy and Victorian bones. Lively but not frenetic. Works for City business travelers during the week and weekend city-breakers on Fridays.
Ask for a room facing Liverpool Street for the urban view rather than the interior gallery — but note it's noisier
Why It Matters
One of very few upscale hotels actually inside the Square Mile rather than west of it. The building dates to 1884 and was designed by the same architects behind the Houses of Parliament. The Masonic Temple — a preserved Victorian Freemasons' lodge inside the hotel — is genuinely remarkable. The Andaz Design Suite (Suite 104) was created by the late Sir Terence Conran and features a Savoir bed and original Eames and Karuselli chairs.
A five-star lifestyle hotel in the heart of the City of London, the Andaz sits in a striking redbrick Victorian building originally opened as the Great Eastern Hotel in 1884. Step inside and the Victorian railway-hotel exterior gives way to bold, art-forward interiors that bridge the buttoned-up City and the creative energy of neighboring Shoreditch. With 267 design-led rooms, four on-site restaurants and bars, a steam room, and a gym built inside what used to be an Egyptian-themed space, it earns its reputation as one of the few genuinely cool hotels in the Square Mile.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
A well-equipped gym set in an Egyptian-themed space on the first level. Life Fitness cardio machines with individual TV screens, boxing bag, free weights, core stability machines, and a dedicated stretching area. One-to-one personal training available on request.
One-to-one personal training sessions bookable through the health club. The gym has proper equipment — not just hotel treadmills — making sessions actually worthwhile.
Limitless Saturday brunch at Rake's Café Bar with live DJ sets from resident and guest DJs. Runs through the afternoon. Food-heavy and high-energy — think indulgent plates plus all the drinks you need.
Summer 2025 sees the grand 1901 Ballroom transformed into a live football screening venue — big screen, immersive sound, long-table seating, signature drinks. Group-friendly and available for private bookings.
The hotel runs a rotating gallery programme. Current exhibition: 'Nature and States of the Soul' by Mariana Gonçalves Da Cunha (on view 18 February – 1 August 2026), exploring the intersection of nature and emotion through layered colour and texture.
Every evening 5–6pm, guests gather in the Andaz lobby for complimentary wine and canapés. A genuine Andaz signature that sets the tone for the evening rather than feeling like a corporate afterthought.
Yoga sessions held inside the hotel's extraordinary Victorian Masonic Temple — a preserved Freemasons' lodge that dates back to the building's 1884 origins. One of the more unusual places to do a sun salutation in London.
