Anassa
Classical Greek chic. Marble floors, Roman mosaics, Greek motifs, Venetian frescoes. Formal enough to feel special, relaxed enough for families. The vibe is unhurried Mediterranean days rather than party scene.
Book Basiliko restaurant at least two weeks ahead in high season — it's always full
Why It Matters
One of the most consistently awarded resort spas in the world — Thalassa Spa is a thalassotherapy powerhouse with 18 treatment rooms and seawater pumped directly from Chrysochou Bay. Ranked Most Consistent High Performer in the world by Condé Nast Traveller in 2017 and included in the Condé Nast Gold List 2019. Member of Leading Hotels of the World, Virtuoso, and Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts.
Anassa means 'queen' in ancient Greek, and this resort wears the title without apology. Designed to look like a traditional Cypriot village — whitewashed low-rise buildings, olive groves, bougainvillea, and a working Byzantine chapel at the centre — it tumbles down a hillside toward a secluded arc of beach on the wild Akamas Peninsula. This is a family-owned property (the Michaelides family) that doesn't reinvent itself with every season. It just quietly delivers.
