Three century-old guesthouses — Alpenrose, Jägerhaus, and Schlosshotel Lisl — were renovated and stitched together with two new buildings (Galeria and Seehaus) into a 136-room resort sitting literally at the foot of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles. The Alpsee lake is a two-minute walk. The 850 m² spa is included in every stay, and the hotel holds a 2025 Michelin Key.

30 m² in the historic Alpenrose building facing the forest. Larger than the standard Comfort room, with natural materials, fine woods and soft fabrics. No air conditioning — this is a historic building. Forest-facing, so quieter than rooms facing the lake terrace.

Boat rental is available just a 2-minute walk from the resort on the Alpsee. Rowing boats and pedal boats for hire.
90 km of well-maintained cycle paths surround the resort. Bicycle rental is available as an add-on offer directly through the hotel.
120 km of hiking trails accessible directly from the resort in summer; 50 km of cleared winter hiking trails. The hotel's activity programme includes themed hikes like the 'Royal Steps' trail around Schwansee and torchlight hikes through Schwangau (family-friendly). The Marienbrücke viewpoint above Neuschwanstein is 20 minutes on foot.
Hotel guests receive a 15% discount on green fees at Allgäu golf clubs in the surrounding region.
Neuschwanstein is a 20-minute walk uphill or a short carriage ride from the hotel. Tickets can only be purchased at the Ticket Centre Hohenschwangau (200 m from the hotel) or online — not at the hotel. The Royal Getaway package adds guaranteed tickets for EUR 32/person.
The Royal Crystal Spa in Schwangau — a thermal salt bath surrounded by semi-precious stones — is a short drive from the hotel. Not operated by AMERON but frequently recommended in their activity programme.
Four ski areas and 32 km of cross-country skiing trails in the immediate vicinity. The hotel runs a seasonally changing daily activity programme.
Tandem paragliding over the Allgäu Alps with views of both royal castles from above. Bookable as an add-on through the hotel's offers page.
The Tegelberg cable car runs to 1,720 m with sweeping views of Neuschwanstein Castle and eight lakes below. Included in the Alpine Heights Experience package. Not operated by the hotel.
The Tegelberg offers via ferrata routes at various difficulty levels. The hotel's activity programme highlights this as an absolute highlight for more adventurous guests.
