Amanruya
Ottoman village meets Aegean escape. Stone architecture, kilim rugs, terracotta beams, and white marble create a calm, earthy atmosphere. Resolutely unhurried — this is not a scene-y resort. The whole point is privacy, quiet, and the sea.
The beach club is about a 20-minute walk down a dirt path from the main resort — take the complimentary buggy, especially at night
Why It Matters
One of the few Aman resorts in Europe, and the only one in Turkey. The entire property feels hand-built for seclusion: stone pavilions are scattered across a wooded hillside so you almost never see another guest. A three-story Library Tower, 50-metre green marble infinity pool, and a private pebble beach accessible by buggy round out an unusually complete resort.
Amanruya is Aman's Turkish outpost on the serene north coast of the Bodrum Peninsula — a village of free-standing stone pavilions tucked into a hillside of ancient olive groves and pine forest above the Aegean. Every one of the 36 pavilions comes with its own private pool, a traditional mangal charcoal fireplace, and enough space to make you forget the outside world exists. The name says it all: 'Aman' means peace in Sanskrit, 'ruya' means dream in Turkish. Note: the resort is currently closed for significant enhancements — including a new spa, expanded beach club, and new restaurants — with no reopening date yet announced.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Private visit to Etrim — known for Turkey's most intricate hand-knotted carpets. See spinning, dyeing, and weaving in a local master's home, with carpets available to purchase. Rustic farm meal included.
Guided day trip by helicopter to the UNESCO-protected sites of Ephesus, Priene, Miletus, and Didyma — all within a three-hour drive but best appreciated from the air. Tours include a scenic picnic.
A short drive to the pottery village of Mumcular. A private session with the village's master potter, hands-on lesson with the distinctive local red clay, followed by a traditional Turkish brunch in his home.
A gentle two-hour guided hike starting in the ancient fishing village of Gümuşlük (built over the ruins of Myndos). Passes local markets before heading into open countryside. Known for spectacular sunsets — best paired with a seafood dinner on the quay afterwards.
Early morning or late afternoon fishing trips with Amanruya's partner local fishermen who know the bay's best spots for sea bream, cane fish, and black goby. Snacks and refreshments included. Catch gets prepared by the resort's chef for lunch or dinner.
Equipped with cardio and resistance training machines. Personal trainers are available to guide workouts.
40-minute drive to a boutique vineyard producing Turkey's first Zinfandel and a notable Shiraz. Tasting includes goat's cheeses, jams, and olives from the adjacent Selia Artisanal Farm.
Snorkelling, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding — equipment available at the Beach Club on the private pebble bay. Two wooden jetties with step ladders make entry into the sea easy. All complimentary for resort guests.
A single court with equipment provided. Playing partners can be arranged by the resort, as can lessons. Accessed via a forest path — there's an aerial photo on the website showing it tucked among the trees.
Private yoga sessions in the dedicated studio or outdoors overlooking the sea. Aerial yoga is also offered in the studio. Sessions can be arranged on request.
Amenities & Practical Info
The details that matter for planning.
Protected by a headland of pines about a 20-minute walk (or buggy ride) from the main resort. Two wooden jetties extend into the turquoise water. Sun loungers and daybeds are scattered along the wooded shoreline.
High-speed WiFi in all pavilions and public areas.
Kitchen and staff available 24 hours. Meze platters are specifically designed to be ordered for in-suite dining or as picnic options.
All stays include daily breakfast, daily afternoon tea with sweets and cookies, welcome amenities (local wine, fruit, homemade Turkish delight), and in-room coffee/tea facilities.
An on-site art gallery within the resort grounds.
A stone tower stocked with books, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the cypress trees. One of the resort's most distinctive architectural features and a genuinely good place to spend a few hours.
An open-air pool lined with green marble from Antalya, overlooking the bay. The visual centrepiece of the resort. Elevated enough to frame the water and mountains beyond. Usually quiet since most guests prefer their private pavilion pools.
All pavilions feature underfloor heating, making the resort comfortable for shoulder season visits.
Electric buggies run between the main resort area and the beach club. Essential for guests not wanting to hike the 20-minute path, especially after dark.
