Why It Matters
Opened in 2009 as the first AMANO hotel, and the rooftop bar has since become one of the most cited spots for a sundowner in Berlin. The property sits steps from some of the best neighborhoods in Mitte — Rosenthaler Platz, Torstraße, and Hackescher Markt — and the on-site Israeli restaurant Habeit shel AMANO runs a lively family-style dinner format that draws non-guests as much as hotel guests.
The original AMANO Group flagship, open since 2009 in Berlin-Mitte's Rosenthaler Platz neighborhood. The hotel's ground-floor bar was voted best hotel bar in Germany shortly after opening, and the seasonal rooftop terrace has become a genuine Berlin institution — drawing locals and guests alike on warm evenings for sweeping views from the TV Tower to Mitte. Five distinct meeting rooms (Reception, Dining Room, Living Room, Conference I, Conference II) in the adjacent building, a 5-minute walk away. Floor-to-ceiling windows, panoramic Berlin views, modern AV equipment. Suitable for creative offsites, workshops, or corporate events.
The hotel offers bicycle rental for guests, a popular way to explore Berlin along the Spree and through the flat streets of Mitte and beyond.
Friday and Saturday nights (plus pre-public-holiday evenings) bring resident DJs to the AMANO Bar from 7pm. The first Thursday of every month is Tequila Thursday from 7pm. Open to hotel guests and walk-ins.
The hotel offers iPods programmed with curated walking tours of the surrounding neighborhood — handy for first-time visitors wanting to explore Mitte, Prenzlauer Berg, and the gallery district.
