Amanjena
Moorish palatial meets desert serenity. Terracotta, ochre, and deep green everywhere. Symmetry is the design language — arched colonnades, mirrored pools, fountains that you hear before you see them. Quiet is the point. This is not the place to party.

Why It Matters
Aman's first foray into Africa and one of Ed Tuttle's most celebrated designs. Every guest unit is a standalone pavilion or villa — no corridors, no shared walls, no hotel lobby energy. The scale of privacy for a city-adjacent property is genuinely unusual.
Amanjena — meaning 'peaceful paradise' in Sanskrit and Arabic — is Aman's first African property, opened in 2000 and designed by Ed Tuttle with a deep Moorish vocabulary. Rose-hued terracotta walls, domed ceilings, zellij-tiled floors and a central reflective bassin bordered by palm and olive trees define the look. The whole thing reads less like a hotel and more like a lost palace stumbled upon at the edge of the Sahara. Just 12km from Marrakech's Djemaa el-Fna, yet worlds away from its noise.
