Seehotel Überfahrt
Elegant Nature Resort — the hotel's own branding and it actually holds. Alpine in location but not in décor. Clean, contemporary design with warm natural materials. No lederhosen on the walls. More Munich money-meets-wellness crowd than old-school Bavarian kitsch.
Book Restaurant Überfahrt well in advance — it's only open Wednesday to Saturday from 9pm and seats are limited after the Michelin star award in June 2025
Why It Matters
Awarded 3 Michelin Keys (2025) for the hotel and 1 Michelin star (June 2025) for Restaurant Überfahrt under chef Cornelia Fischer. Named 'Best Gourmet Resort' by HIDEAWAYS and ranked first in 'Gourmet Hotels 2021' by Connoisseur Circle. One of the very few hotels in Bavaria combining a Michelin-starred restaurant, five distinct dining concepts, a 3,000 sqm spa, and private lake access under one roof.
A 5-star superior resort sitting directly on the shores of Lake Tegernsee, 45 minutes by car from Munich. The Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt has over 150 years of hospitality behind it — the original 'Gasthof zur Überfahrt' opened in 1873, and the name itself refers to the old lake crossing. Today it's a serious gourmet destination with a freshly minted Michelin star (June 2025) alongside four other award-winning restaurants. The 3,000 sqm spa is under major renovation through summer 2026, so arrive with that in mind.
