ADLER HÄUSERN Gourmet & Spa Hotel
Contemporary Classic with authentic Black Forest warmth. Country-house fabrics, quality woodwork, antiques — but no kitsch. Two design languages run through the property: traditional country-house style and a cleaner, modern 'Black Forest design' look with natural materials, warm beige and brown tones, and Italian designer furniture.
The half board upgrade (breakfast + afternoon snack buffet + 5-course dinner) is genuinely worth it — the evening menus change daily and showcase the kitchen's real creativity
Why It Matters
Holds the distinction of having held a Michelin star from 1966 through 2020 — the longest continuous Michelin star of any restaurant in Germany at the time. The star was lost only because the restaurant temporarily closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. The hotel remains in the Michelin Guide selection. It is also featured in '1000 Places to See Before You Die.'
A 4-star-Superior Black Forest inn that the Zumkeller family has run since 1858 — six generations and counting. The building itself dates to 1596, but it's been lovingly overhauled into something that feels both rooted in tradition and genuinely current. The draw is threefold: serious gourmet cooking (including a Michelin star held uninterrupted from 1966 to 2020), a proper 800m² spa with indoor pool and outdoor jacuzzi, and direct access to the trails, lakes, and forests of the Southern Black Forest Nature Park.
