Ad Astra
Petite hôtel particulier — part aristocratic townhouse, part design museum. Eclectic, personal, and a little theatrical. The kind of place where every corner has a story and the staff know your name before you ring the bell.

Why It Matters
Built inside an ancestral mansion where the Marchese still lives downstairs, with a 270 sqm wraparound terrace overlooking the Torrigiani Garden — the largest privately owned garden in a European city. The name AdAstra (Latin for 'to the stars') comes from the neo-gothic tower in the garden built in the early 19th century for stargazing. Sister property to SoprArno Suites, Oltrarno Splendid, and Stella d'Italia, all operated by the same owners. Interior design by Matteo and Marco Perduca.
AdAstra occupies the first and second floors of an 18th-century ancestral mansion in Florence's Oltrarno, where the current Marchese Torrigiani still lives on the ground floor below you. The 16 rooms are all different — Italian midcentury design pieces, hand-picked art, frescoed ceilings, and roll-top freestanding bathtubs sitting right in the bedrooms. It's set within the grounds of the Torrigiani Garden, the largest privately owned garden in Europe within city limits. Fair warning: you can look at the garden from the wraparound terrace, but you can't wander in it.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Guests can take drinks from the honesty bar out onto the 270 sqm wraparound terrace at sunset. No formal aperitivo service — this is self-organised, with the terrace and garden view as the draw.
The reception team (open 8am–7:30pm daily) provides personalised Florence recommendations — restaurant bookings, museum tips, off-the-beaten-track sights in Oltrarno. Staff are known to hand-annotate city maps for guests.
The Torrigiani Garden — the largest privately owned garden within a European city — is off-limits to general guests, but the hotel can arrange a private guided tour with the Marquis Torrigiani himself upon request. Must be organised in advance through the concierge.
