Why It Matters
First hotel ever built in Porto Rotondo and the Costa Smeralda (1963). Architect-designed hexagonal pavilion layout gives every room its own shape — no two are identical. Trattoria del Pescatore is one of the few pieds-dans-l'eau seafood venues on the Sardinian coast. The hotel has also developed a custom olfactory identity — its signature scent is woven into rooms, candles, cocktails, and even dishes.
The original hotel of Porto Rotondo — and, more broadly, the first hotel on the entire Costa Smeralda — Abi d'Oru has sat on Marinella beach since 1963. Its signature hexagonal pavilions spread across generous grounds between the pool and the sea, a design that's unmistakably of its era and very much part of the charm. Rooms are styled with local materials: Orosei marble in the bathrooms, hand-woven Samugheo rugs, and a blue-and-white palette. Three generations of guests keep returning for the warm Sardinian hospitality, the calm turquoise bay, and a restaurant right on the sand.

Classic Room
The entry-level option at Abi d'Oru. Like every room in the hotel, no two are identical — all were designed in 1963 as part of the hexagonal pavilion layout. Views are of the garden rather than the sea. Sardinian furnishings, marble from Orosei, and the same standard amenities as higher categories.
Deluxe Room
The most numerous room type (around 70 rooms), sitting between 28 and 32 sqm with a private sea-view balcony. Available with a king-size or two single beds. Renovated with Sardinian-Mediterranean finishes. Each room was designed in 1963 so the layout is genuinely unique. Beach loungers from the 4th to 7th row are included.

Garden Deluxe
Deluxe-category rooms overlooking the gardens rather than the sea. Otherwise identical in specification to the sea-view Deluxe rooms. A quieter option for light sleepers, and generally a lower price point.
Junior Suite
Open-plan studio layouts ranging from 38 to 45 sqm with a proper separate living area and sea or partial sea view. The terrace comes with chairs and a coffee table. Décor highlights Sardinian materials — Orosei marble, Samugheo woven rugs, Mediterranean tones. Can sleep up to 3, or 4 in some configurations on request.

Premium Suite
Four premium suites with a large private terrace. The living room connects to a terrace, and the rooms are furnished with a more elevated specification than the standard suites.
Signature Suite Grazia & Eleonora
The two top-floor suites, named after Nobel laureate Grazia Deledda and Giudicessa Eleonora d'Arborea. Each is 100 sqm plus a 9 sqm terrace with panoramic views of the Gulf of Marinella. Two bedrooms (each king-size, can split to twins), two bathrooms in golden marble from Ulassai, a central living room with sofa and armchairs. Parquet floors, gold accents, and Sardinian-inspired details throughout. Sleeps up to four. Comes with front-row beach gazebo including spumante and soft drinks, or water's edge loungers with umbrella, daily refreshments, and dedicated bar service.
