The Royal Bavarian
Playful-heritage boutique. Dark oak floors in herringbone pattern, Murano glass chandeliers, loden-cloth accents, a library stacked with Bavaria books and vinyl LPs, and an interior design concept (by DREIMETA) inspired by fin de siècle grand hotels. Tongue-in-cheek rather than reverential.
Book a Large or Extra Large room if you can — the step-up in space from 18 sqm to 20–30 sqm is worth it
Why It Matters
Occupies the historic Imperial Post and Telegraph building directly on Bahnhofplatz, opened Autumn 2017. The NENI Munich restaurant and Boilerman Bar are genuine local draws — not just hotel amenities. Green Key certified since December 2023.
A 165-room hotel that took over the former Main Post Office and Royal Telegraph Exchange at Munich's Hauptbahnhof — a Neorenaissance building from 1869. The 25hours group leaned fully into the building's regal history, layering in Bavarian iconography, ironic royal references, and warm oak-and-blue interiors without ever going kitschy about it. It's one of the best-positioned hotels in Munich: step outside and you're immediately at the city's central transport hub.

How you'll actually spend your days.
On the 1st floor — regional Munich finds, Soeder care products, everyday essentials, and 25hours branded items. Worth a browse; not a typical hotel gift shop.
Regular programming including concerts, readings, yoga classes, pizza-making workshops, and pottery classes. Schedule changes — check the events page before arrival.
Fleet of premium Schindelhauer belt-driven bikes in various models and sizes available for hire. The hotel provides a map with pre-curated bike tours around the city, including routes through the Englischer Garten. Extra Large rooms and suites include bike rental in the room rate.
A trio of vintage typewriters set up in the lobby on a wooden table with stools. Drop in, load up a sheet of paper, and write. Notes, letters, whatever. A genuinely analogue moment in a busy city hotel.
Red shelves stacked with vinyl LPs and books about Bavaria in the lounge area adjacent to the Boilerman Bar. The vinyl collection was curated in collaboration with SUPERSENSE, Vienna's specialist in analogue culture. Music plays exclusively on vinyl at the bar.
